Something told the Wild Geese...

This is a favorite poem of mine and I thought I would share it today. Our weather has turned to Autumn and the rains have started. I think of this poem every time I hear the geese calling as they fly overhead. Happy Fall!
Something Told the Wild Geese
Something told the wild geese
It was time to go,
Though the fields lay golden
Something whispered, "snow."
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries, luster-glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
something cautioned, "frost."
All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spice,
But each wild breast stiffened
At remembered ice.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly,
Summer sun was on their wings,
Winter in their cry.

October Beach Day

While Rachel and the girls were here for a visit on their way to Alaska we took a day trip to the beach. Sara and the boys and Janet joined us at Arcadia Beach for a terrific day in the sun. It was a perfect day for running and exploring.
Beach baby Addie~she is so darn cute!

Deacon, Olson, and Meggie~They had so much fun running and looking for shells.

How did they get so big? (Thanks Rachel for the great pictures)
